Potholes is a quintessential Hazy IPA from Monkish, showcasing a saturated hop profile led by Mosaic, Citra, and Vic Secret. It pours with a dense, opaque glow, releasing intense aromas of tropical passion fruit, ripe mango, and bright citrus zest. The palate is dominated by a lush juice-like character, where the berry notes of Mosaic and lime-heavy Citra meet the pineapple-forward punch of Vic Secret. Supported by a soft, pillowy malt base of light bread and oats, the beer maintains a low bitterness and a silky-smooth finish, emphasizing a vibrant fruit-forward experience without any lingering harshness or hop burn.
Appearance. Straw to light gold (4-6 SRM). Opaque and hazy with a luminous quality. Pours with a thick, rocky, white head with excellent retention and dense lacing.
Aroma. High intensity. Brimming with tropical notes of passion fruit, pineapple, and mango, alongside bright citrus zest. Malt is subtle, providing a bready, doughy background. Clean fermentation with complimentary fruity esters and no detectable hop grassiness.
Taste. Impactful hop flavors of pineapple, tangerine, and mixed berries. Low to medium-low perceived bitterness that is very well-integrated into the soft body. Bready, grainy malt supports the fruitiness without adding caramel sweetness. Finish is off-dry and remarkably smooth.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a soft, pillowy, and creamy texture. Moderate carbonation. Very light, well-integrated alcohol warmth. Smooth and rounded, lacking any astringency or raw starch texture.
