Imperial IPA 8.4 º
Never Sleep is an intensely aromatic Double IPA that showcases the signature tropical intensity of Monkish Brewing Co. The hop profile is driven by a potent combination of Citra and Motueka, delivering a sensory rush of lime zest, crushed mojito mint, and ripe mango. These vibrant New World hop notes are supported by a lean, neutral malt base that allows the firm bitterness to remain clean rather than harsh. Despite the 8.4% ABV, the beer maintains high drinkability with a dry finish. It pours with a soft, glowing gold color, releasing layers of grapefruit peel and passionfruit that linger long into the aftertaste.
Appearance. Pours a pale gold to light orange with a luminous, moderate haze. Topped by a dense, persistent white head that leaves intricate lacing on the glass.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring bright lime, lemon zest, and tropical mango from the Motueka and Citra. Hints of fresh pine and grapefruit pith follow, supported by a very low, clean, grainy malt presence and light peachy fermentation esters.
Taste. Initial punch of citrus and tropical fruit flavors, specifically lime and sweet grapefruit. Moderately high bitterness provides a firm structure without being astringent. The malt is soft and unobtrusive, leading to a dry, crisp finish with a lingering resinous and fruity aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, velvety texture. Medium carbonation provides a gentle prickle. A subtle, well-integrated alcohol warmth is present, reflecting its strength without becoming hot or solventy.
