Le Ipa from Monkish Brewing Co. is a vibrant expression of the American IPA style, showcasing a double dry-hopped profile led by Galaxy and Mosaic hops. The sensory journey begins with an explosion of tropical passionfruit and peach from the Galaxy additions, seamlessly layered with the signature blueberry and citrus zest of Mosaic. This aromatic intensity is supported by a clean, subtle base of pale malts that provides just enough grainy structure to balance a firm, crisp bitterness. Despite its 7.2% ABV, the finish remains remarkably dry and refreshing, leaving a lingering impression of resinous pine and tropical fruit on the palate.
Appearance. Deep gold color with a slight, hop-induced haze. Features a thick, persistent white head that leaves significant lacing as it recedes.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma dominated by tropical notes of passionfruit and mango, alongside distinct blueberry, tangerine, and a faint resinous undertone. Very low, clean bready malt support and a clean fermentation profile.
Taste. Immediate burst of citrus and stone fruit flavors. High hop bitterness is prominent but well-balanced by a light, toasted malt presence. The finish is dry with a lingering hop-forward aftertaste showing pine and berry.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, soft texture. Moderate carbonation provides a crisp bite, complemented by a very light, well-integrated alcohol warmth.
