Dry In Drums is an intensely saturated Double IPA that showcases a heavy-handed application of Galaxy and Citra hops. The sensory experience is dominated by an explosion of tropical fruit, specifically pungent passion fruit and ripe peach from the Galaxy, layered with the bright grapefruit and zesty lime of Citra. A soft, supportive malt backbone remains in the background, allowing the triple dry-hopped intensity to lead the profile. Despite its 8.4% ABV, the beer remains drinkable with a clean fermentation profile and a firm but smooth bitterness. It concludes with a dry, resinous finish that lingers with persistent citrus oils.
Appearance.Gold to light orange (SRM 7-9). Features a significant haze from extensive dry-hopping. Pours with a moderate-sized, persistent, off-white head that leaves dense lacing.
Aroma.High intensity. Immediate notes of passion fruit, pineapple, and citrus peel. Galaxy provides a distinct peach and tropical pungency, while Citra adds layers of grapefruit and melon. Malt is low and neutral, providing a light crackery or grainy base. Clean fermentation with no significant esters.
Taste.Initial impression is a wave of tropical fruit and citrus oils. High hop flavor mirroring the aroma with notes of lime, grapefruit, and stone fruit. Bitterness is firm and moderately high but lacks harshness. Malt flavor is clean and soft, resembling white bread. Finish is dry to medium-dry with a long, fruity, resinous aftertaste.
Mouthfeel.Medium body with a smooth, soft texture. Carbonation is moderate. A well-integrated, restrained alcohol warmth is present without being solventy or hot. Lacks any harsh hop-derived astringency.
