NEIPA - New England IPA 7.1 º
Dekopin is a masterful Hazy IPA that captures the essence of tropical saturation through a heavy double dry-hopping of Citra, Nelson, and Centennial. The sensory experience is led by the distinctive white wine and gooseberry notes of Nelson, which meld seamlessly with Citra’s vibrant grapefruit and lime zest. Centennial provides a sophisticated floral lift and a subtle pine undertone, grounding the intensely fruity profile. This beer presents a signature soft, pillowy texture and a luminous, opaque appearance. The overall character is exceptionally juice-forward with a restrained, integrated bitterness that emphasizes hop depth and a clean, fruity resonance on the finish.
Appearance. 3-5 SRM. Opaque, pale straw with a luminous, glowing clarity that stops short of being murky. It supports a dense, rocky, meringue-like white head with excellent retention and thick, persistent lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma dominated by crushed white grapes, passion fruit, and sweet citrus oil. The Nelson Sauvin contributes a clear vinous quality, while Citra provides tropical depth. Centennial adds a delicate floral and light resinous note. Low bready malt and neutral-to-fruity esters are present in the background.
Taste. Initial impression is a burst of tropical fruit juice, featuring mango, lychee, and bright grapefruit from the Citra. The Nelson hops introduce a sophisticated gooseberry and white wine complexity. A soft, low-to-moderate bitterness is well-masked by the full body, leading to an off-dry finish. Malt flavor is low and bready, providing a platform for the lingering fruity aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a remarkably smooth, pillowy, and soft texture. Carbonation is moderate. There is a very light, well-integrated alcohol warmth and an absence of any harsh hop astringency or starchiness.
