Moksa Brewing Co Immoderation

This massive Imperial Stout pushes the boundaries of fermentation, delivering an opulent sensory experience defined by its immoderate adjunct additions. Intense aromas of Brazilian coffee and raw coconut dominate the initial impression, followed by the rich, woody sweetness of Vermont maple syrup. The palate is profoundly coated in layers of dark chocolate malt and caramelized sugar, while real vanilla beans provide a consistent, smooth floral background. At 17% ABV, it exhibits significant viscosity and a deep, lingering warmth. The result is a decadent, harmonious blend where the roasted bitterness of the Mostra Coffee perfectly counters the luxurious, syrupy finish driven by the American Ale yeast's high-gravity performance.
Appearance. Jet black and completely opaque (40+ SRM). It pours with a thick, motor-oil consistency, forming a small, dark tan head with limited retention. Pronounced legs are visible on the glass due to extreme alcohol and sugar concentration.
Aroma. High intensity. Bold, freshly roasted Brazilian coffee and nutty raw coconut lead the bouquet. Beneath the adjuncts, deep notes of dark chocolate, molasses, and Vermont maple syrup emerge. Vanilla beans contribute a sweet, creamy fragrance, while a clean but powerful alcohol warmth underpins the complex, dessert-like aroma.
Taste. The initial impression is an explosion of sweet coconut and rich coffee. A heavy malt backbone of dark chocolate and toast supports the intense Vermont maple syrup, which provides a coating, velvety sweetness. The vanilla lingers from the start through to the aftertaste. Bitterness is moderate, primarily derived from the coffee roast rather than hops, which helps to balance the massive residual sugars and caramelized character.
Mouthfeel. Very full-bodied, thick, and chewy with a luscious, velvety texture. Carbonation is low, enhancing the syrupy weight. Significant alcohol warmth is present and noticeable, yet it remains smooth and well-integrated without being solventy.
