Aromatic Opacity is a luminous Hazy IPA defined by its opaque, straw-colored glow and a velvety texture derived from pilsner malt, white wheat, and malted oats. The sensory profile is an exploration of the Pacific Northwest, showcasing a heavy 5.5 lb per barrel addition of Simcoe and Strata hops. These varieties deliver an intense aromatic burst of ripe pineapple and tangerine, accented by a specific resinous dankness from the Simcoe lot. The palate follows with lush tropical fruit flavors and a restrained bitterness, resulting in a soft, juicy finish that emphasizes depth of hop character over sharp bitterness.
Appearance. Straw to pale orange with a dense, opaque haze providing a vibrant shine. Features a rocky, meringue-like white head with excellent retention and thick lacing.
Aroma. High-intensity hop aroma lead by tropical pineapple and zesty tangerine. Background notes of resinous dankness and resin. Low bready and grainy malt character from the pilsner malt and wheat; fermentation is clean with subtle fruity esters.
Taste. Initial impression is a wave of juicy pineapple and citrus oils. Malt flavor is low, providing a neutral, lightly bready foundation. Hop bitterness is low to medium-low, well-balanced by the soft body. Finishes off-dry and smooth with a lingering tropical aftertaste and no hop harshness.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a soft, pillowy texture from the oats and wheat. Carbonation is moderate. Alcohol provides a very light, well-integrated warmth without any astringency or raw starchiness.
