This Sweet Stout presents a decadent sensory experience, defined by a robust interplay of adjuncts and dark malts. Highlighting a rich mocha profile, it leads with intense aromas of freshly roasted coffee and creamy milk chocolate. The addition of vanilla provides a fragrant, velvety top note that softens the roasted edges. Brewed with lactose, the palate is luscious and sweet, balancing the mild char of the malt. At 6.8% ABV, there is a gentle, supporting warmth that carries the flavors of dark cocoa and espresso through a lingering, creamy finish, epitomizing the coffee-and-cream character of the style.
Appearance. Opaque, deep ebony to black (SRM 40). Topped by a dense, persistent tan head with excellent creamy lacing.
Aroma. High intensity; prominent notes of dark chocolate and sweetened espresso are layered with a distinct, floral vanilla bean aroma. A clear impression of cream-like sweetness from lactose is present, supported by a mild, bready malt backbone and very low earthy hop character.
Taste. The initial impression is decidedly sweet and creamy. Rich milk chocolate and mocha flavors dominate, followed by a smooth vanilla infusion. The roast character is moderate and rounded—never harsh—providing a counterpoint to the lactose sweetness. Bitterness is moderate but perceived as low, finishing with a pleasant, lingering sweetness of coffee and cream.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full to full-bodied with a notably creamy, velvety texture. Carbonation is moderate-low. A light, well-integrated alcohol warmth is present, enhancing the richness without becoming astringent.
