This vibrant American IPA centers on the innovative Kohia Nelson hop blend, delivering a sensory experience defined by tropical intensity and refined New Zealand character. The aromatic profile is dominated by an onslaught of juicy passionfruit and zesty candied lime, layered over the distinctive Nelson Sauvin hallmarks of fresh gooseberry and crisp white wine. Supported by a subtle, grainy malt backbone, the Rakau influence adds a soft stone fruit depth. While leaning into the lush textures of a hazy profile, it retains the assertive bitterness and structural integrity of the style, finishing with a lingering, resinous fruitiness that remains clean and exceptionally refreshing.
Appearance. Deep gold to light amber (7-9 SRM) with a pronounced hazy to opaque clarity. Features a medium-sized, creamy white head with excellent persistence and intricate lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop-forward aroma featuring punchy passionfruit, candied lime, and distinct white wine grape. Low grainy malt sweetness provides a neutral background, while light esters complement the tropical hop character. No diacetyl or DMS present.
Taste. Initial impression is a burst of tropical fruit, specifically passionfruit and gooseberry. Medium-high hop bitterness is well-integrated with flavors of citrus zest and white wine from the Nelson Sauvin. Malt flavor is low and bready, serving to support the hop onslaught. Finishes medium-dry with a lingering, clean bitterness and sustained fruit character.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, slightly soft texture. Carbonation is medium-high, providing a crispness that balances the fruit density. Very light, well-integrated alcohol warmth is present without any harshness or astringency.
