Pouring a deep, opaque black with a creamy tan head, it offers a high-intensity aroma of milk chocolate and sweet cream. The palate is dominated by luscious chocolate and smooth vanilla, supported by a mild roasted malt backbone that suggests sweetened espresso. The use of lactose ensures a medium-full, velvety mouthfeel with a lingering, sugary finish. Appearance. 35-40 SRM. Very dark brown to opaque black. Large, creamy tan head with excellent retention and thick lacing.
Aroma. High intensity. Prominent dark chocolate and sweet vanilla notes over a mild roasted grain base. Strong impression of cream-like sweetness with low dark fruit esters. Hop aroma is absent.
Taste. Initial impression is very sweet and decadent. Dominant milk chocolate and vanilla bean flavors provide a dessert-like profile. Mild roasted grain and coffee flavors offer a subtle counterpoint. Bitterness is low to moderate, but largely masked by high residual sweetness from lactose. The finish is lingering and sweet, characterized by chocolate-and-cream notes.
