This Belgian-inspired Specialty IPA showcases a captivating interplay between traditional farmhouse character and modern hop intensity. Highlighting Centennial and Mandarina Bavaria hops, the profile radiates bright citrus and resinous notes, grounded by a rustic, spicy fermentation profile. The addition of wheat malt and oat flakes provides a soft, hazy canvas that enhances head retention and texture. The result is a refreshing, dry-finishing ale where fruity esters and subtle peppery phenols meet the vibrant, zesty punch of New World hops, delivering a complex yet highly drinkable experience that bridges ancestral Belgian tradition with contemporary craft innovation.
Appearance. Pale straw to deep gold (4–7 SRM). Large, persistent white head with excellent lacing. Slightly hazy to hazy appearance due to the protein content from oats and wheat malt.
Aroma. Moderate to high intensity. Bright notes of tangerine, orange peel, and grapefruit from Mandarina Bavaria and Centennial hops, paired with a distinct resinous pine. The yeast contributes spicy phenols (pepper, clove) and fruity esters (pear). Light grainy-sweet malt in the background.
Taste. Initial citrus zest and resinous hop flavors transition into a rustic, spicy mid-palate. Moderate hop bitterness is well-integrated with peppery yeast character and a dry, crisp finish. Low malt sweetness with a subtle bready, wheaty undertone. Refreshing and clean aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with a smooth, creamy texture provided by oat flakes. High carbonation contributes a lively, effervescent mouthfeel. Very low to light alcohol warmth with no astringency.
