This gluten-free Neomexican Lager presents a refreshing sensory profile defined by its unique use of corn tortillas. On the nose, a bright, grainy sweetness intertwines with subtle toasted masa notes, complemented by a fresh, floral and citrus-forward hop presence. The palate is light and lean, delivering a clean profile where the corn adjunct provides a delicate bready depth without heavy sweetness. Its crisp, dry finish and high carbonation emphasize its sessionable nature. This collaboration with Altavia results in a balanced, hop-forward experience that maintains the classic crushability of an International Pale Lager while showcasing the distinct, savory nuances of the added tortillas.
Appearance. Pale gold to deep golden (3–6 SRM). Brilliant clarity despite the alternative grain additions. Forms a moderate, white, frothy head with fair to good retention and light lacing.
Aroma. Moderate intensity featuring a clean, grainy-sweet corn profile with distinct toasted masa or tortilla notes. The hop character is fresh and noticeable, displaying floral and light citrus qualities. Fermentation is very clean with no significant esters or phenols.
Taste. Initial impression is crisp and highly refreshing. The malt flavor is dominated by a bready, grainy sweetness and a unique savory tortilla character. Hop flavor is moderate, leaning toward herbal and citrus notes. Bitterness is low to moderate, providing just enough balance to ensure a dry, clean finish without lingering harshness.
Mouthfeel. Light-bodied and quite thin, typical of gluten-free grain bases. High carbonation creates a lively, spritzy sensation on the tongue. Alcohol warmth is absent, and the finish is smooth and highly quenching.
