This West Coast Double IPA delivers a relentless sensory assault of modern hop technology. The aroma is saturated with massive notes of tropical citrus and dank resin, driven by a complex blend featuring Citra, Mosaic Incognito, and Simcoe. On the palate, a sharp but clean bitterness emerges from Columbus T45, supporting layers of pink grapefruit from NZ Cascade and stone fruit nuances from Idaho 7. Despite the robust 8.7% ABV, the body remains lean and focused, finishing remarkably dry with a lingering piney snap. It is a vibrant, hop-forward powerhouse that balances intensity with the signature high drinkability of the style.
Appearance. Deep gold to light copper (7-10 SRM) with brilliant clarity. Pours with a moderate-sized, creamy white head that exhibits excellent persistence and leaves intricate lacing on the glass.
Aroma. High intensity hop aromatics. Prominent notes of grapefruit, passionfruit, and mango are accented by pungent pine and resin. Background hints of apricot and dank earthiness are present. Malt is very low, providing a neutral, cracker-like foundation. Fermentation is clean with a faint, smooth alcohol presence.
Taste. The initial impression is a wave of citrus zest and resinous pine. Mid-palate reveals complex hop flavors of blueberry and tangerine. Bitterness is high but well-integrated and smooth, never harsh. A very light, bready malt character supports the hops without adding sweetness. The finish is decisively dry and crisp, with a long-lingering aftertaste of grapefruit rind and pine needles.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a crisp, smooth texture. Carbonation is medium-high, providing a refreshing bite. A gentle, well-integrated alcohol warmth is present, reflecting the strength without being solventy. No hop-derived astringency.
