Mikkeller’s take on the classic Vienna Lager offers a festive, malt-forward profile that bridges the gap between autumn refreshment and winter comfort. Built on a foundation of rich Vienna malt, it presents deep toasted cereal notes and a refined, elegant sweetness. The aroma is defined by a clean lager fermentation, highlighting crusty bread and a subtle, spicy hop character. On the palate, the interplay of toasted caramel and a balanced, moderate bitterness creates a crisp, refreshing finish despite its slightly elevated strength. It remains a smooth, sophisticated amber lager, delivering an inviting warmth suitable for the colder months while maintaining impeccable drinkability.
Appearance. Light reddish amber to copper in color (12–14 SRM) with brilliant clarity. Supports a large, off-white, persistent head with good lacing.
Aroma. Moderately intense malt-rich aroma featuring notes of toasted bread crust and cereal. A low, spicy hop character is present, supported by a clean lager fermentation profile free of esters or diacetyl.
Taste. Initial impression is of soft, elegant malt complexity. Toasty and rich malt flavors dominate the palate, accompanied by a hint of toasted caramel and cereal. A firm but moderate hop bitterness provides balance against the malt richness. The finish is fairly dry and clean, with a lingering aftertaste of toasted grain and noble-type hops.
