Stateside is a quintessential American IPA that showcases a vibrant sensory profile defined by high-intensity American hops. It opens with a pungent citrus-forward bouquet, offering waves of grapefruit zest and resinous pine. This hop-forward character is artfully balanced by a sturdy backbone of caramel malt, which provides a toasted sweetness and a honeyed depth that prevents the profile from becoming overly aggressive. Poured clear with a reddish-amber hue, the beer maintains a clean fermentation profile, allowing the hop oils to linger on the palate. The result is a refreshing, moderately strong ale that finishes with a crisp, lingering bitterness and bright citrus notes.
Appearance. Color is light reddish-amber (12-14 SRM). Exceptional clarity with a medium-sized, off-white head that demonstrates great persistence and leaves thick lacing on the glass.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring prominent citrus peel, grapefruit, and pine resin. A medium-low supporting malt character brings notes of toasted bread and light caramel sweetness. Clean fermentation profile with no significant esters.
Taste. Initial impression is dominated by medium-high hop flavor consisting of citrus and resin. Medium-low malt presence provides a toasted caramel and bready flavor that balances the firm, high bitterness. The finish is dry to medium-dry with a long-lasting, clean hop aftertaste and lingering citrus notes.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth texture and moderate to medium-high carbonation. Features a very light, well-integrated alcohol warmth without any harshness or hop-derived astringency.
