Mikkeller Spontanlychee is a sophisticated Fruit Lambic that marries the aggressive wild funk of spontaneous fermentation with the delicate, exotic essence of lychee. The profile is dominated by the lychee's unique floral and rose-like perfume, which provides a graceful counterpoint to the sharp, lactic acidity of the base beer. Extensive aging in oak barrels contributes subtle notes of vanilla and dry wood, grounding the bright tropical fruitiness. This expression is intensely tart and dry, characterized by a complex interplay of barnyard funk and bright, fermented fruit that lingers through a crisp, effervescent finish.

Appearance. Pours a bright gold to light amber (SRM 4-6) with a slight, natural haze. It supports a thick, white, rocky head with excellent retention and moderate lacing.

Aroma. High intensity; the scent is led by a floral, perfume-like lychee character reminiscent of roses and tropical fruit. This is backed by complex wild yeast notes of hay, barnyard funk, and a sharp, lemony lactic tartness. Subtle oak vanillin and a hint of aged cheese are present in the background.
