Neighborhood is a rustic Saison that captures the essence of a Midwestern garden. Fermented with wild-captured yeast from the brewery’s garden, it presents a complex, fruity-spicy fermentation profile. The addition of Sugar Creek Malting grains provides a foundational soft, grainy malt backbone with a hint of sun-dried straw and rustic cereal notes. A delicate dry hop of Grüngeist imparts nuanced notes of ripe peach and spring blossoms. This farmhouse ale is highly attenuated, resulting in a bone-dry finish that accentuates the peppery phenols and lively effervescence. It is a refreshing, terroir-driven beer that perfectly balances rustic grain character with sophisticated stone fruit esters.
Appearance. Pale gold to light amber with a slight haze from the garden yeast and specialty grains. Features a dense, rocky, ivory head with excellent retention and significant Belgian lace. Highly effervescent.
Aroma. Moderate to high intensity. A complex blend of garden-captured yeast esters resembling pear and apricot, alongside spicy black pepper phenols. The Grüngeist hops contribute a soft floral and peach-like aroma. Malt is lightly grainy and rustic, reminiscent of freshly harvested field grains.
Taste. Initial impression is bright and crisp. Malt flavor is low to medium, showcasing a soft, grainy character from the Sugar Creek Malting grains. Hop flavor is medium, echoing the stone fruit and floral notes of Grüngeist. Moderate bitterness is amplified by a very high attenuation, leading to a bone-dry, peppery, and lingering clean finish.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with very high carbonation, creating a prickly, effervescent sensation on the palate. Very low alcohol warmth is well-integrated at 6% ABV. Smooth and crisp, without any harshness or astringency.
