Metalhead God Save the Quince
This Hazy IPA offers a vibrant summer profile defined by the distinctively floral and tart aromatic contribution of Quince. The fruit's unique pome character blends seamlessly with high-intensity tropical hop notes, suggesting waves of mango and citrus. A backbone of flaked grains provides a soft, pillowy texture that carries the fruit flavors across the palate with restrained bitterness. The result is a refreshing, juice-like experience where the exotic quince notes enhance the natural esters, finishing with a delicate, off-dry brightness and a clean, fruity linger that makes it exceptionally drinkable for warmer weather.
Appearance. Straw to light gold (4-5 SRM) with a deep, opaque haze and a luminous shine. Pours with a thick, meringue-like white head that demonstrates excellent retention and leaves consistent lacing.
Aroma. High intensity and fruit-forward. Prominent notes of fresh quince provide a floral, pear-like edge, supported by hop-derived tropical fruit and citrus. Malt is subtle, showing as light bready or grainy notes, while the fermentation is clean with supportive fruity esters.
Taste. Massive fruity hop and quince flavor, mirroring the aroma with layers of pineapple and stone fruit alongside the specialized pome fruit character. Bitterness is low to moderate, never sharp, allowing the soft malt to provide a platform for the fruit. The finish is off-dry and smooth, without any harsh grain or hop astringency.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a soft, silky mouthfeel. Carbonation is moderate. No harshness or astringency; a light, pleasant alcohol warmth is present but well-integrated into the creamy texture.
