This intense Specialty Smoked Beer showcases a massive collision between dark roasted malts and assertive peat smoke. Built on a foundation of a robust Imperial Stout, the profile leads with deep layers of dark chocolate, espresso, and charred grain. The peat contribution adds a distinct earthy, medicinal, and campfire-like dimension that weaves through the rich malt sweetness. Despite the smoky intensity, the beer maintains a velvety texture and a significant alcohol presence that provides a warming, luxurious finish. It is a bold, complex exploration of roast and resinous smoke, balanced by a lingering, bittersweet chocolate aftertaste.

Appearance. Opaque, deep ebony to ink-black (40+ SRM). Thick, persistent tan to mocha-colored head with dense lacing and fine bubbles.

Aroma. High intensity. Dominant aromas of heavy peat smoke, iodine, and damp earth transition into rich roasted notes of dark cocoa and burnt sugar. Subtle dark fruit esters like plum or raisin emerge as it warms. Low earthy hop character. No harsh phenolic or rubbery notes; the smoke is integrated but assertive.

Taste. Initial hit of sweet, dark roasted malts—think bittersweet chocolate and heavy roast coffee. Mid-palate is dominated by the savory, smoky peat character, providing a campfire and slightly medicinal quality. Moderate bitterness from both hops and roasted grains. Finish is long and warming with a lingering smoke and cocoa-powder dryness. Balanced toward the roast and smoke rather than hop bitterness.

Mouthfeel. Full-bodied and viscous with a creamy, coating texture. Moderate-low carbonation. Noticeable alcohol warmth that is smooth rather than hot. Minimal astringency despite the heavy roast and smoke.
