Mesopotamia Imperial Stout is a sophisticated sensory journey built on a foundation of six distinct malts and three hop varieties. It pours with an opaque, jet-black intensity, crowned by a remarkably thick, creamy, and deeply colored foam. The aroma is highly expressive, led by prominent notes of roasted coffee and dark chocolate, interwoven with sweet vanilla and spicy black licorice. On the palate, the complex grain bill delivers a rich, velvety texture. A firm, well-integrated bitterness provides a structural counterpoint to the decadent malt sweetness, ensuring the strength of the alcohol remains smooth and supportive rather than sharp. The finish is long and harmonious, dominated by bittersweet cocoa.
Appearance. Jet black and opaque (40 SRM). Features a very intense, persistent, and creamy deep tan to dark brown head with excellent lacing.
Aroma. High intensity. Rich profile of dark roasted coffee beans, bittersweet chocolate, and cocoa. Distinctive layers of black licorice and sweet vanilla are present, with very low earthy hop notes and clean fermentation esters.
Taste. Initial impression is of deep, dark-roasted malts and espresso. Followed by complex flavors of chocolate and licorice, with a subtle vanilla sweetness. Bitterness is firm and long-lasting, balancing the heavy malt body. Finish is bittersweet and lingering, with a clean roast aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Full-bodied and chewy with a velvety, luscious texture. Carbonation is fine and moderate. Features a smooth, well-integrated alcohol warmth without any harshness or solvent qualities.
