Menaud Immortelle is a sophisticated Hazy IPA that captures the essence of Charlevoix through the inclusion of hand-harvested immortelle flowers. This double dry-hopped ale presents a luminous, hazy profile where the unique floral contribution of the immortelle blossoms meets intense tropical hop notes. The nose is greeted by a complex bouquet of white flowers and pineapple, evolving into a palate defined by soft, bready malts and a velvety texture. Its 6.5% ABV is perfectly integrated, offering a gentle warmth that supports a finish dominated by lush stone fruit and a restrained, elegant bitterness that remains remarkably smooth on the palate.
Appearance. Straw to light gold (4 SRM). Opaque, hazy appearance with a vibrant, luminous shine. Crowned by a dense, rocky, meringue-like white head with exceptional retention and intricate lacing.
Aroma. High intensity. Immediate notes of tropical mango and passionfruit are layered with a distinct, perfume-like floral aroma from the immortelle flowers. Clean, bready malt presence provides a solid base, complemented by subtle esters of peach and melon. No hop-derived grassiness or herbal harshness is present.
Taste. A burst of tropical fruit—notably pineapple and guava—dominates the initial impression. The immortelle flower adds a refined, wildflower honey-like floral depth. Malt character is soft and grainy, balancing a moderate but smooth bitterness. The finish is off-dry and clean, with lingering notes of citrus zest and floral spice, free from any astringency.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a remarkably soft, pillowy texture. Carbonation is moderate, enhancing the velvety mouthfeel. Provides a light, well-integrated alcoholic warmth and a smooth, rounded finish without any starch-like heaviness.
