This Menaud Bourbon is an elegant Baltic Porter that masterfully integrates the clean, lager-driven smoothness of the style with the opulent influence of spirit-barrel aging. At 9.5% ABV, it presents a deep mahogany complexion, releasing high-intensity aromas of dark chocolate and freshly roasted coffee. The secondary maturation in bourbon barrels introduces sophisticated layers of charred oak and sweet vanilla, which wrap around a core of complex dark fruit esters like plums and raisins. On the palate, the beer is velvety and rich, balancing toasted malt sweetness with a refined, warming alcohol finish that honors the brewery's distillery roots.

Appearance. Deep, dark brown (SRM 28) with brilliant clarity and reddish-copper highlights when held to the light. It is topped by a thick, persistent tan head with excellent retention and fine lacing.

Aroma. High intensity of rich malt, featuring notes of dark chocolate, molasses, and deep toast. The bourbon barrel aging adds prominent vanilla and light oaky tannins. Esters are moderate and dark-fruit forward, reminiscent of prunes and cherries, with a clean fermentation profile and no hop aroma.

Taste. The initial impression is richly malty and sweet, followed by flavors of milk chocolate and espresso. A smooth, Schwarzbier-like roasted character persists without any burnt or acrid notes. Mid-palate reveals bourbon-driven vanilla and toasted wood, supported by a medium-low bitterness that provides just enough balance. The finish is dryish and lingering, with a hint of licorice and warming alcohol.

Mouthfeel. Full-bodied and exceptionally smooth with a creamy texture. Carbonation is moderate to medium-high, preventing the beer from feeling heavy. A noticeable, well-aged alcohol warmth is present but remains deceptive and integrated.
