This Double IPA delivers an intense sensory experience defined by a complex quintet of hops. The synergistic blend of Citra, Idaho 7, Vic Secret, Galaxy, and Nelson Sauvin creates an explosive bouquet of pink grapefruit, ripe mango, and crushed white grapes. A lean, neutral malt base allows these New World varieties to remain the focal point, providing vibrant notes of passionfruit and pineapple followed by a clean, resinous finish. Despite its 7.8% strength, the beer maintains high drinkability with a well-integrated alcohol warmth and a firm, persistent bitterness that cleanses the palate, epitomizing modern hop-forward intensity.
Appearance. Deep gold to light orange (7-9 SRM). Features a moderate-sized, persistent, off-white head with excellent lacing. Clarity is generally good, though a slight, modern haze is acceptable.
Aroma. Intense hop aroma with a complex layering of passionfruit, white grape, and pineapple. Secondary notes of citrus zest, mango, and a hint of resinous pine are prominent. Malt character is very low and neutral, providing a faint grainy backdrop. Clean fermentation profile with a subtle, smooth alcohol presence.
Taste. Strong, multi-dimensional hop flavors of mango, passionfruit, and gooseberry dominate the palate. High bitterness is firm and assertive but remains clean and smooth without harshness. The malt is low and unobtrusive, offering a soft, cracker-like support. The finish is dry to medium-dry, leaving a lingering resinous and tropical hop aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, velvety texture. Carbonation is medium-high, lending a lively mouthfeel. A restrained, smooth alcohol warmth is present, consistent with its strength. Free of hop-derived astringency.
