Belgian Strong Ale 8.2 º 40 IBU
Medina VIII is an elegant Belgian Golden Strong Ale that balances high attenuation with a complex fermentation profile. Effervescent and bright, it opens with a vibrant bouquet of ripe pear and apple esters, supported by a soft, peppery alcohol presence and herbal Continental hop notes. The foundation of Pilsner malt provides a crisp, subtle graininess that stays lean on the palate. At 8.2% ABV, this ale remains remarkably light-bodied and deceptive, concluding with a long, bone-dry finish and a lingering, spicy bitterness. Its high carbonation and refined warmth create a sophisticated, sparkling sensory experience.
Appearance. Pale yellow to gold (SRM 3-6). Brilliant clarity with intense effervescence. Features a massive, long-lasting, rocky white head with characteristic Belgian lacing.
Aroma. Moderate to high intensity of pome fruit esters, specifically pear and apple. Low to moderate herbal and spicy hop character. A nearly neutral, grainy-sweet Pilsner malt base supports a soft, peppery alcohol presence.
Taste. Complex flavors of pear-like esters and spicy, herbal hops over a light, grainy Pilsner malt profile. Peppery alcohol and phenols are evident but smooth. Medium to high bitterness is accentuated by high carbonation, leading into a long, dry, and crisp finish.
Mouthfeel. Light to medium-light body with very high carbonation and an effervescent texture. Noticeable but smooth alcohol warmth that is well-integrated and never solventy.
