This New Zealand Pilsner captures a coastal spirit with a lean, crackery malt base that provides a crisp canvas for an intensive hop program. Utilizing a potent combination of Riwaka and Nelson Sauvin in both the whirlpool and dry-hop additions, the profile is defined by dank, oily resin and vibrant notes of passionfruit and crushed gooseberry. The fermentation is exceptionally clean, allowing the green, herbal aromatics to shine before leading into a refreshing, dry finish. It strikes a masterful balance between traditional lager structure and modern Southern Hemisphere hop intensity, offering high drinkability with a persistent, refined bitterness.
Appearance. Straw to light gold (3–4 SRM). Brilliant clarity. Persistent, creamy white head with excellent lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring prominent white wine-like gooseberry, passionfruit, and a distinct dank, oily, and grassy character. Supported by a medium-low bready and crackery malt backbone. Very clean fermentation profile with no discernible esters or sulfur.
Taste. Initial impression is hop-forward and crisp. Flavors of tropical fruit and lime zest from Riwaka and Nelson Sauvin dominate, backed by a light, grainy-sweet malt presence. Firm but smooth hop bitterness provides balance. The finish is dry, clean, and refreshing with a lingering herbal and fruity aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with a soft, smooth texture. Moderate-high carbonation provides a lively, crisp sensation. No alcohol warmth or astringency.
