Mount Lion IPA presents a bold sensory profile centered on a vibrant hop display. Utilizing a heavy hand of Idaho 7 and Citra hops, the beer emits a powerful aromatic bouquet of dank orange, bright citrus, and tropical fruit. This American IPA balances its hop-forward intensity against a supporting, light caramel-kissed malt base that provides a subtle sweetness and structural depth. On the palate, the resinous and fruit-laden flavors lead to a smooth, firm bitterness that remains clean throughout. Golden-amber with moderate clarity, it finishes with a lingering citrus zest, creating a robust yet highly drinkable experience inspired by the local Bream Head range.
Appearance. Deep gold to light amber (8-10 SRM) with a medium-sized, persistent off-white head and good clarity.
Aroma. High-intensity hop aroma featuring prominent notes of dank orange, tropical fruit, and zesty citrus from Citra and Idaho 7. A low, clean maltiness with hints of light caramel supports the hop presentation; fermentation is clean with no significant esters.
Taste. High hop flavors of citrus zest and resinous fruit lead the palate. A light, toasted malt backbone with subtle caramel sweetness balances the medium-high bitterness. The finish is medium-dry and clean with a lingering hoppy aftertaste of orange peel.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth texture and medium-high carbonation. Displays a very light, well-integrated alcohol warmth consistent with its strength, and lacks any harsh astringency.
