McLeod's Brewery High Country WCIPA
American IPA 6.5 º
This West Coast IPA captures the rugged spirit of the high country with an assertive hop profile driven by Mosaic, Centennial, and Idaho 7. A brilliant gold pour gives way to a complex bouquet where dank resinous notes from Idaho 7 intertwine with the bright citrus zest and delicate floral undertones of Centennial. On the palate, a clean, grainy malt backbone provides a lean platform for the tropical berry and stone fruit qualities of Mosaic to shine. Firm bitterness defines the experience, leading into a crisp, bone-dry finish that underscores its American IPA heritage.
Appearance. Medium gold color (7 SRM). Brilliant clarity. Medium-sized, white head with excellent persistence and intricate lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring prominent dank pine, grapefruit zest, and subtle floral notes. Low, clean, bready maltiness supports the hops. A faint tropical fruit ester profile is present, but the fermentation is overall very clean.
Taste. Intense hop-forward impression with layers of resinous pine and citrus pith. A low, slightly toasty malt flavor is quickly overtaken by a high, clean bitterness. The finish is very dry and crisp with a lingering aftertaste of grapefruit peel and herbal hops.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with a smooth, crisp texture. Medium-high carbonation provides a lively, refreshing sensation. There is a very faint, integrated alcohol warmth consistent with its strength.
