This Hazy IPA highlights the innovative Yakima Chief experimental hop HBC 586, delivering a vibrant and saturated sensory profile. The hop character is intensely aromatic, leading with a cocktail of ripe stone fruit and zesty citrus, followed by sweet tropical notes and a nuanced, woody complexity unique to this trial variety. The malt profile remains supportive and grainy, allowing the hop-derived esters and biotransformation to take center stage. With its signature soft, pillowy texture and restrained bitterness, this iteration offers a juicy, fruit-forward experience that finishes smooth and clean, epitomizing the modern unfiltered aesthetic of the series.
Appearance. Color is light amber (approx. 6 SRM) with a heavy, opaque haze that gives the beer a luminous shine. It is topped by a thick, rocky, meringue-like white head with very high retention and significant lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring prominent stone fruit, citrus, and sweet tropical fruits. A distinctive, subtle woody note from the HBC 586 hop is present. The malt character is low, clean, and grainy, while the fermentation profile is neutrally estery.
Taste. High fruity hop flavor follows the aroma with notes of peach, mango, and citrus zest. Malt flavor is low and bready. Bitterness is medium-low and very soft, never sharp. The finish is off-dry to medium and exceptionally smooth, with a lingering, juicy hop aftertaste and no harshness.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a soft, pillowy mouthfeel. Carbonation is moderate. There is a light, well-integrated alcohol warmth. The beer is smooth and free of any astringency or raw starch texture.
