Dank Wizard is an assertive American IPA that leans heavily into a resinous, pungent profile. The strategic hop blend of Chinook, Idaho 7, Simcoe, and Amarillo delivers an intense bouquet of fresh pine needles and dank cannabis nugs, layered over bright grapefruit zest and a surprising touch of wild strawberry. It pours with a persistent off-white head and a clean, pale malt base that provides a neutral stage for the hop intensity. The palate is defined by a firm, resinous bitterness and a dry, crisp finish, ensuring the complex hop oils from the boiling cauldrons remain the focal point from the first sip to the lingering aftertaste.
Appearance. Medium gold to light amber (approx. 7 SRM). Features a medium-sized, off-white head with good persistence and light lacing. Generally clear with a very slight haze characteristic of heavy dry-hopping.
Aroma. High intensity. Dominant hop notes of resinous pine and dank earth from Chinook and Idaho 7. Secondary aromas of zesty grapefruit and orange peel from Amarillo, complemented by Simcoe's subtle berry and woodsy notes. Malt aroma is low, presenting as clean, crackery grain with a neutral fermentation profile.
Taste. Assertive hop-forward flavor mirroring the aroma; pine, resin, and citrus zest dominate. Low, grainy malt sweetness provides a brief initial support before being overtaken by medium-high to high bitterness. Clean fermentation allows the strawberry and tropical nuances to shine before a dry, crisp, and lingering hoppy finish.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, slightly oily texture from hop resins. Carbonation is medium-high, providing a crisp bite. Alcohol warmth is light and well-integrated at 6.5% ABV, with no harshness or astringency.
