Coastlands Hazy IPA captures the sun-drenched spirit of Whakatāne with an explosion of tropical fruit and citrus hop character. Pouring with a characteristic opaque glow reminiscent of a golden coastline, it leads with an intense bouquet of stone fruit and ripe mango. The palate is defined by a soft, pillowy mouthfeel and a restrained bitterness that allows the juicy New World hop flavors to shine. A subtle, grainy malt backbone provides support without distracting from the hop-forward profile, resulting in a refreshing, approachable finish. Appearance. Deep straw to light gold with a persistent, meringue-like white head and significant lacing. The body is characterized by a high level of haze, providing a luminous, opaque appearance without being murky or including sediment.
Aroma. High intensity with a profile dominated by tropical fruit notes like passionfruit and mango, alongside citrus zest and peach. A clean, lightly bready malt presence sits quietly in the background, while the fermentation remains neutral with supportive fruity esters.
Taste. Very high fruity hop flavors, mirroring the aroma with impressions of pineapple and tangerine. The malt provides a low, grainy sweetness that balances a moderate-low bitterness. The finish is soft and off-dry, leaving a lingering impression of fruit juice rather than harsh hop resin.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a smooth, velvety texture and no astringency. Carbonation is moderate, contributing to a soft overall sensation. A light, well-integrated alcohol warmth is present at the 6% ABV level.
