This assertive Double IPA delivers a concentrated sensory experience driven by Citra and Mosaic Lupomax hops. Intense aromas of tangy grapefruit and lime peel from the Citra collide with the lush tropical medley of mango and blueberry characteristic of Mosaic. On the palate, luscious stone fruit flavors of peach and apricot are supported by a clean, neutral malt backbone that allows the hops to remain the focal point. Despite its strength, the beer finishes with a firm bitterness and a smooth, slightly hazy texture, balancing high hop saturation with a refreshing, dry-leaning finish that masks its potent alcohol content.
Appearance. Pours a hazy gold to light orange-copper with a moderate-sized, persistent, off-white head that leaves significant lacing on the glass.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma dominated by citrus and tropical fruit. Distinct notes of grapefruit and lime meet complex mango, blueberry, and stone fruit. A low, clean, grainy maltiness sits in the background with a neutral fermentation profile and a hint of clean alcohol.
Taste. Initial impression is an explosion of tropical and citrus hop flavors. Moderately high to high bitterness that remains smooth rather than harsh. Pronounced flavors of tangerine, peach, and passion fruit lead to a dry to medium-dry finish with a lingering hoppy aftertaste. Low, soft malt character provides minimal support.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, velvety texture. Moderate carbonation provides a gentle prickle, while a restrained, smooth alcohol warmth is present without being solventy or hot. No harsh hop-derived astringency.
