Creature McMason is a decadent Imperial Stout that reinterprets the classic profile through an indulgent acai bowl lens. This massive beer pours jet black with a dense, mocha head, releasing high-intensity aromas of dark chocolate and roasted coffee melded with deep berry notes. The palate is defined by its immense richness and sweetness, driven by an exceptionally high finishing gravity that coats the tongue in flavors of cocoa, dried plums, and vibrant, tart acai fruit character. Despite the formidable alcohol content, the warmth remains velvety and well-integrated, leading to a lingering, dessert-like finish that prioritizes smooth, fruity complexity over aggressive roast bitterness.
Appearance. Jet black and completely opaque (SRM 40+). It supports a thick, persistent deep tan to mocha head with significant lacing. High viscosity is visible through prominent legs on the glass.
Aroma. Intensely aromatic with a dominant character of bittersweet chocolate and espresso. This is layered with a complex fruit profile reminiscent of acai berries, black currants, and raisins. Moderate esters of dark fruit are balanced by a subtle, clean alcohol presence and deep toasted malt notes.
Taste. The initial impression is one of intense sweetness and rich malt density. Flavors of dark cocoa and roasted grain provide a sturdy base for the prominent acai-inspired berry fruitiness. Bitterness is low for the style, acting as a minor counterpoint to the significant residual sugars. It finishes long and sweet with lingering notes of dark fruit and chocolate.
Mouthfeel. Very full-bodied and exceptionally viscous, possessing a chewy, velvety, and luscious texture. Carbonation is low to moderate, enhancing the creamy palate. A smooth, gentle warmth is present but remarkably restrained for the high gravity.
