Mason Ale Works Citra Claws is a vibrant Hazy IPA that leads with an aggressive sensory profile centered on the namesake Citra hops. The experience is dominated by intense layers of pink grapefruit, juicy mango, and zesty lime, supported by a subtle, bready malt backbone. Its appearance is a characteristic glowing orange with a soft, opaque haze and a persistent white head. On the palate, the fruit-forward hop flavors transition into a smooth, pillowy mouthfeel, with the 7.2% alcohol providing a gentle warmth. A restrained bitterness ensures a drinkable, juicy finish, perfectly capturing the lush, modern character of the style.
Appearance. Color is a deep orange-gold (approx. 6 SRM). Opaque clarity with a characteristic hazy glow. Features a medium, rocky, white head with very high retention and substantial lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma dominated by Citra-derived grapefruit, mango, and lime zest. A clean, lightly bready malt character sits in the background without any toast or caramel. Fermentation is neutral to slightly fruity, supporting the hop profile.
Taste. High fruity hop flavor mirroring the aroma with layers of tropical fruit and citrus. Low to medium-high perceived bitterness that is well-integrated and never sharp. Low grainy malt flavor provides a soft foundation. Finish is off-dry and smooth with a lingering juicy aftertaste.
