Maryensztadt Czarnolas is an assertive Double India Black Ale that artfully balances high-intensity hops with a dark, roasted malt profile. The aromatic profile is led by the vibrant citrus and tropical fruit notes of Citra and Amarillo, complemented by the classic grapefruit and pine character of Cascade. A distinct spicy and herbal undertone from Marynka hops adds complexity to the resinous hop punch. On the palate, the hop-forward bitterness is firm but refined, supported by a sleek malt backbone suggesting dark cocoa and toasted bread. It concludes with a dry, clean finish and a subtle, lingering warmth characteristic of a robust Double IPA.
Appearance. Opaque, deep ebony to black (38 SRM) with a thick, persistent, tan-colored head that exhibits excellent retention and leaves significant lacing on the glass.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring prominent grapefruit, orange, and mango from Citra and Amarillo, supported by resinous pine. A light, clean toasted malt character provides a background of cocoa and coffee without acridity. Neutral fermentation profile.
Taste. Initial impression is a massive wave of resinous and citrusy hop flavor. The bitterness is high but smooth, never harsh. A medium-dry malt profile offers supportive notes of toast and dark chocolate. The finish is clean and dry with a long, lingering bitterness and tropical fruit aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, velvety texture. Carbonation is moderate. A gentle, well-integrated alcohol warmth is present, enhancing the fullness of the beer without any hop-derived astringency.
