The 2023 vintage of Decadence is a masterfully balanced Imperial Stout, presenting a deep, multisensory profile. It opens with an intense olfactory display of dark chocolate, espresso, and black licorice, underscored by complex esters resembling dried figs and raisins. The palate is similarly dense, featuring layers of bittersweet cocoa and charred grain that meld with a firm bitterness, providing structural integrity to the massive malt backbone. As the liquid coats the tongue with its velvety texture, a smooth, vinous warmth emerges, reflecting its significant strength. This is a harmonious, full-bodied expression of the style, finishing with a lingering, pleasant bitterness and a hint of dark fruit.

Appearance. Jet black and completely opaque; poured with a dense, long-lasting deep tan head that leaves thick lacing. Visible viscosity is evident through slow-moving legs on the glass.

Aroma. High intensity with a rich blend of bittersweet chocolate, toasted bread, and heavy roasted coffee. Moderate esters of prune and raisin are present, alongside a low earthy hop character and a clean, integrated alcohol sweetness.

Taste. Initial impression is intensely malty and roasty, offering flavors of cocoa powder and burnt grain. A firm, medium-high bitterness provides balance, preventing the malt from becoming cloying.
