This Dark Mild offers an evocative sensory profile that elevates the sessionable heritage of the style. The inclusion of spicy Rye malt provides a crisp, peppery counterpoint to the bready, biscuit-forward base. Aromas of freshly roasted coffee from Heart and Graft roasters meld seamlessly with the inherent caramel and chocolate notes of the dark malts. On the palate, the coffee introduces a delicate roasted bitterness that balances the sweetness of the grist, while the rye contributes a subtle textural depth. It finishes clean and remarkably drinkable, leaving a lingering impression of toasted nuts and espresso.

Appearance. Deep mahogany to dark brown (approx. 22 SRM) with a creamy, tan head that shows moderate retention. Generally clear with dark ruby highlights when held to light.

Aroma. Moderate intensity featuring a complex blend of freshly roasted coffee, dark chocolate, and a distinctive peppery spice from the rye malt. Underlying notes of caramel and faint red fruit esters are present.

Taste. Initial flavors of sweet caramel and toasted bread are joined by the earthy, spicy character of rye. Mid-palate reveals rich chocolate and smooth espresso notes. Bitterness is low but provides enough structure to balance the malt. Finishes off-dry with a lingering roasted grain character.
