Porter 6 º 18 IBU
This English Porter presents a striking visual of near-opaque blackness topped by a creamy, persistent tan head. Despite its dark appearance, the beer offers a refreshing lightness and approachable body. The aromatic profile is defined by malt-driven notes of sweet bread and a dominant coffee character, accented by subtle hints of licorice and dark chocolate. Though brewed with American hops, the hop presence remains intentionally low to prioritize the complex malt bill. The palate is intensely coffee-forward, transitioning into a rich chocolate finish that lingers pleasantly, providing a well-balanced and highly drinkable experience suitable for pairing with roasted meats or cocoa-based desserts.
Appearance. Deep black and almost opaque (approx. 30 SRM). Features a creamy, persistent head with a light tan or toasted color; unfiltered with a second fermentation in the bottle.
Aroma. Moderate to high intensity. Strong notes of roasted coffee and sweet bready malt predominate, accompanied by delicate layers of chocolate and a distinct touch of licorice. Hop aroma is very low, despite the use of American hops, allowing the malt complexity to remain at the forefront.
Taste. The initial impression is strongly coffee-forward, supported by a toasted, bready malt backbone. Significant chocolate flavors emerge mid-palate and dominate the lingering aftertaste. Bitterness is low and restrained, balancing the malt sweetness without being sharp. The finish is clean and surprisingly refreshing for a dark ale, lacking any harsh or burnt grain character.
Mouthfeel. Light to medium-light body, defying its heavy appearance. Carbonation is intentionally low, contributing to a smooth and creamy texture. Very low alcohol warmth is perceived despite the slightly elevated ABV for the style.
