Maltgarden Gate Nº6/2023 is a monumental Imperial Stout that has undergone a patient 29-month maturation in Heaven Hill Bourbon Barrels. This extended aging imparts profound layers of charred oak and vanilla, which intertwine with the decadent additions of creamy peanut butter and rich maple syrup. The sensory profile is anchored by deep cocoa nibs, offering a bittersweet chocolate foundation that balances the intense sweetness. On the palate, expect a luxurious, velvety texture where the warmth of the bourbon provides a sophisticated counterpoint to the nutty and syrupy highlights. It is a harmonious, intensely-flavored experience that celebrates the synergy of barrel character and dessert-like adjuncts.

Appearance. Jet black and completely opaque (SRM 40+). It features a thick, creamy, deep tan head with moderate retention and significant legs due to the high viscosity and alcohol content.

Aroma. High intensity with a complex blend of dark chocolate, roasted peanut butter, and sweet maple syrup. The Heaven Hill barrel aging contributes clear notes of vanilla, toasted oak, and a hint of coconut. Low esters of dried plum and raisin are present, alongside a deep, slightly burnt grain character.

Taste. A rich, multi-layered profile of bittersweet cocoa nibs and roasted malts. The peanut butter adds a savory-sweet nuttiness that melds with the distinct, sugary depth of maple syrup. Medium-high bitterness from roasted grains and hops prevents a cloying finish. The barrel influence provides caramel and woody tannins, ending in a long, warming, and harmonious aftertaste of chocolate and bourbon.

Mouthfeel. Full-bodied and highly viscous with a chewy, velvety texture. Carbonation is low to moderate. A smooth, well-integrated alcohol warmth is prominent, providing a luscious and coating sensation without being harsh.
