Mallinsons XV Fifteen is a celebratory Ordinary Bitter that leans into modern, hop-forward aromatics while maintaining the drinkability of its British roots. A vibrant blend of Simcoe, Amarillo, and Centennial hops provides a complex foundation of soft orchard fruit and sharp citrus, while a final addition of Citra T90 intensifies the aromatic profile with bursts of lemon and orange zest. This pale ale balances a light, biscuity malt backbone against a solid yet approachable bitterness. The result is a clean, bright, and refreshing session beer that highlights fifteen years of brewing expertise through its expressive hop character and crisp, dry finish.
Appearance. Pale gold to light amber (8-10 SRM); brilliant clarity; moderate white head with good retention and delicate lacing.
Aroma. Moderate to high intensity; prominent notes of orange zest and lemon peel; subtle pine resin and tropical fruit esters; low biscuity and bready malt character in the background; very low yeast-derived fruitiness.
Taste. Initial citrus-forward impression of lemon and grapefruit; moderate biscuity malt sweetness quickly transitions to a firm, resinous bitterness; hop flavors of orange pith and light pine dominate the mid-palate; clean, dry finish with a lingering zesty aftertaste.
