Malcantone Berg is a vibrant tribute to German cellar beer culture, presenting a fresh, unpasteurized take on the classic Munich Helles. Brewed to capture the rustic soul of a young kellerbier, it centers on a rich foundation of sweet, bready Pilsner malt. This comforting graininess is balanced by a delicate, rustic hop profile displaying earthy and herbal nuances. A soft, integrated bitterness anchors the palate without overshadowing the clean, bottom-fermented yeast character. Exceptionally smooth and highly drinkable, this golden lager finishes dry with a lingering echo of fresh-cut hay and rustic country meadows.
Appearance. Deep golden color (around 5 SRM). Due to its young, unfiltered, and unpasteurized nature, it displays a slight, charming cellar haze. It is topped by a persistent, dense, creamy white head that leaves elegant lacing.
Aroma. Moderate grainy-sweet malt aroma reminiscent of fresh bread dough and sweet crackers. Hop aroma is low to moderate, leaning toward rustic herbal and earthy notes with a faint floral backing. Clean fermentation profile with a whisper of youthful sulfur typical of fresh cellar lagers.
Taste. Begins with a soft, moderately rich malt flavor showcasing sweet grains and light breadiness. Supported by a low to medium-low bitterness that stays smooth rather than sharp. Rustic herbal and earthy hop flavors emerge in the mid-palate. Finishes dry and rounded, with the clean, sweet impression of malt lingering gently alongside a soft hop note.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, slightly creamy, and well-lagered texture. Medium carbonation level. No warming alcohol presence, providing an exceptionally refreshing and soft mouthfeel with zero astringency.
