This Session White IPA delivers a high-intensity sensory experience defined by its bold grapefruit integration. As an experimental Specialty IPA, it presents a lean and refreshing profile that balances the zesty, pithy qualities of fresh fruit with a crisp, wheaty malt base. The sensory focus remains firmly on the citrus-forward hop character, which provides a firm bitterness that lingers into a clean, dry finish. Despite its sessionable strength, the beer maintains the aggressive hop presence typical of the style, softened slightly by the smooth texture of wheat malts, resulting in a vibrant and highly drinkable fruit-infused ale.
Appearance. Pale straw to light gold (3–6 SRM). Characterized by a persistent, frothy white head with excellent lacing. Clarity ranges from slightly hazy to opaque, consistent with the use of wheat malts and fruit additions.
Aroma. High intensity aroma featuring dominant notes of fresh grapefruit zest and pith. Complementary citrusy and floral hop character is supported by a low, bready wheat malt presence. Fermentation is clean, though light spicy esters may be present.
Taste. Initial impression is of vibrant, tart grapefruit. Hop flavor is medium-high, echoing the citrus and pithy notes of the fruit. Bitterness is firm and assertive, balanced by a low bready malt flavor. The finish is dry and crisp with a lingering, clean bitterness and fruit-skin aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with a refreshing, crisp character. Carbonation is moderate to high, enhancing the prickly citrus sensation. Alcohol warmth is negligible given the session-strength ABV. Smooth texture with no notable astringency.
