This Double IPA showcases a vibrant layering of hops, opening with an intense aromatic burst of lime zest and tropical mango driven by Motueka and Cryo Citra. A classic resinous and piney backbone from Chinook provides a sturdy foundation, balancing the lush fruit notes with a spicy, evergreen complexity. On the palate, a firm but clean bitterness slices through a lean, cracker-like malt profile, leading to a crisp, dry finish. Despite its 8% strength, the beer remains remarkably drinkable, offering a smooth, warming sensation that highlights the synergy between its citrus-forward modern hop profile and traditional West Coast resin.

Appearance. Deep gold to light orange-copper (7-9 SRM). Pours with a moderate-sized, persistent, off-white head that leaves significant lacing. Good clarity, though a slight, modern hop haze is acceptable.

Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring prominent notes of grapefruit and resinous pine from the Chinook, layered with tropical passionfruit, lime zest, and crushed citrus from the Cryo Citra and Motueka. Malt is neutral, supportive, and grainy-sweet in the background. Fermentation is clean with very low fruity esters.

Taste. Initial impression is a surge of hop flavor—lime, orange peel, and spruce. Malt flavor is low and clean, providing a soft, cracker-like base. High bitterness (approx. 70-80 IBU) is firm and assertive but lacks harshness. The finish is dry to medium-dry, concluding with a lingering, clean hoppy aftertaste of citrus pith and resin.

Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, velvety texture. Carbonation is moderate-high, providing a lively mouthfeel. A light, smooth alcohol warmth is present but well-integrated, with no hop-derived astringency.
