Mala Gissona Tiu is a vibrant Rye IPA that celebrates a decade of brewing with a bold, resinous character. The hop profile, driven by Mosaic, Cascade, and Chinook, delivers a complex interplay of stone fruit and bright orange peel. The addition of rye provides a distinct bready depth and a characteristic spicy snap that cuts through the citrus-forward hop layers. Visually striking with its deep orange hue, this beer balances a velvety, medium-bodied texture with an assertive bitterness. The finish is crisp and lingering, highlighting the harmonious interplay between classic American hops and the peppery grain influence.
Appearance. Deep orange to amber color (10–14 SRM). Brilliant clarity with a moderate-sized, persistent off-white head that leaves consistent lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring notes of ripe peach and apricot from Mosaic, alongside grapefruit and floral tones from Cascade. A resinous pine backbone from Chinook is complemented by a subtle, peppery rye spiciness and a light, toasty malt background.
Taste. Initial impression is punchy and hop-forward, showcasing orange zest and stone fruit flavors. A moderate grainy-sweet malt presence provides a foundation for the rye’s spicy, earthy complexity. Bitterness is firm and assertive, leading to a dry, slightly off-dry finish with a lingering peppery aftertaste that avoids harshness.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a notably smooth, velvety texture. Carbonation is moderate, providing a crisp lift to the palate. Very light alcohol warmth is present but well-integrated, with no significant astringency.
