American Pale Ale 4.5 º 29 IBU
This Ordinary Bitter presents a refined sessionability, showcasing a deep amber hue derived from its blend of pale and caramel malts. The sensory profile is defined by a bready and lightly toasty malt foundation, complemented by a subtle, floral lift from American Cascade hops. A unique secondary fermentation in the bottle, aided by the addition of honey, provides a soft, natural carbonation that enhances the beer’s rich yet approachable character. While displaying a mild bitterness, the balance remains focused on a clean, malty expression and delicate fruity esters, resulting in an evocative, traditional ale with a modern citrus-kissed edge.
Appearance. Deep amber to copper (12-14 SRM); thick, off-white head with moderate retention; hazy if sediment is poured, otherwise clear when settled.
Aroma. Moderate malt intensity featuring bready, biscuity, and light caramel notes; low hop aroma with floral and faint grapefruit citrus character from the Cascade hops; low fruity esters; no diacetyl.
Taste. Initial bready malt sweetness followed by a light toasty character; moderate hop flavor with floral and resinous notes; medium-low bitterness that does not overpower the malt; off-dry finish with a clean, lingering biscuity aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body; moderate-low carbonation providing a soft, natural mouthfeel; low alcohol warmth; slight creaminess from the unfiltered proteins; no astringency.
