Mahou Maestra Doble L pulo presents a robust interpretation of a Dunkles Bock, characterized by its deep amber hue and vibrant orange reflections. The sensory journey begins with an inviting aromatic core of toasted malt and rich Maillard products, complemented by a more pronounced hop presence than traditional examples due to its double hop approach. On the palate, expect a medium-full body delivering intense flavors of bread crust and dark caramel typical of Munich and Vienna malts. The finish is well-attenuated yet smooth, balancing the malty sweetness with a firm, supportive bitterness that lingers without being harsh or astringent.
Appearance. Deep amber to light copper (14–22 SRM) with brilliant clarity and distinct garnet highlights. It supports a large, creamy, and persistent off-white head with good lacing.
Aroma. Moderate to high intensity rich, bready-malty aroma with significant toasted overtones and Maillard products. A subtle but detectable floral and herbal hop character is present, alongside a clean fermentation profile and a slight hint of dark fruit.
Taste. Rich and complex maltiness dominated by toasty Maillard products and crusty bread. Unlike some examples, the hop bitterness is moderate and firm to balance the 7.5% ABV. Clean fermentation with no roasted or burnt notes, finishing with a lingering malty sweetness that is well-attenuated and not cloying.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a smooth, velvety texture. Carbonation is moderate. A noticeable, well-integrated alcohol warmth is present, providing a pleasant fullness without any harshness.
