Magic Rock Common Grounds is a decadent Coffee Porter that showcases a masterful integration of seven malts and seven coffees. A foundation of Golden Promise, Brown, and Oat malts creates a lush, velvety texture, while Carafa Special 3, Chocolate, and Dark and Pale Crystal malts provide a deep espresso and dark cocoa core. Magnum, Pioneer, Pacific Gem, and Sorachi Ace hops lend subtle backing notes, allowing the complex coffee profile to dominate with aromas of freshly roasted hazelnut and vanilla. On the palate, expect layers of sweet toffee and rich dark fruit, balanced by a gentle roasted bitterness that lingers with a clean, chocolatey finish.

Appearance. Deep ebony to near black (SRM 35–40) with a thick, long-lasting creamy tan head that leaves significant lacing. The beer is opaque under normal light, though it may show deep ruby highlights at the edges if held to a strong source.

Aroma. High intensity roasted coffee dominates, presenting a range from earthy and nutty to bright berry-like fruitiness. Underlying secondary notes of dark chocolate, toasted hazelnut, and sweet vanilla are prominent. The malt character provides scents of burnt sugar and treacle, while hop aroma remains very low and herbal.

Taste. The initial impression is of rich, sweetened cold brew coffee. The mid-palate reveals layers of dark chocolate, toffee, and a distinct nuttiness. Bitterness is moderate, derived from both the roasted grains and the coffee addition, keeping the sweetness from the crystal malts in check. The finish is smooth and lingering with notes of cocoa and dark berries.
