Magic Rock Cannonball
Cannonball is an assertive American IPA that captures the essence of a modern West Coast hop bomb with an explosive sensory profile. Dominated by an intense hop presence, the experience leads with a wave of tropical fruit and pungent resinous notes. At 7.4% ABV, it provides a sturdy, sweet malty backbone that offers necessary structural support to the aggressive, rasping bitterness. This high-alcohol ale balances its strength with a clean fermentation profile, allowing the hop-derived character to remain the primary focal point. The experience concludes with a mouth-puckering, lingering bitterness and a crisp, dry finish that highlights its heritage as a beer built for impact.
Appearance. Deep gold to light amber in color (8–12 SRM). Exhibits brilliant clarity and is crowned by a dense, persistent off-white head that leaves significant lacing on the glass.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring a complex blend of tropical fruit, citrus zest, and heavy pine resin. A clean, supporting maltiness offers low notes of toasted bread and light caramel, while fermentation remains neutral with no significant esters.
Taste. High hop flavors mirror the aroma with mango, pineapple, and a strong resinous pine character. Bitterness is very high and assertive, yet balanced by a medium-low grainy malt sweetness. The finish is dry and crisp, with a long-lasting, bitter, and hoppy aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, slightly oily texture from the hop oils. Carbonation is moderate-high, providing a lively scrub on the palate. A subtle, well-integrated alcohol warmth is present without being harsh or fusel.
