Summertime Sadness is a potent Double IPA that expertly balances high-strength impact with a vibrant hop profile. The aromatic intensity is driven by the unique combination of Sabro and HBC 596, delivering a tropical explosion of shredded coconut, ripe pineapple, and bright citrus zest. Subtle herbal and cedar notes from the hops weave through a lean, clean malt backbone that allows the bitterness to shine without feeling abrasive. At 8% ABV, this beer maintains a dangerous drinkability, offering a dry finish that showcases the complex stone fruit and tropical character of its modern hop selection.

Appearance. Pours a deep gold to light copper color (7–12 SRM) with a moderate, creamy off-white head that leaves persistent lacing. Clarity is generally good, though a very slight, modern hop haze may be present.

Aroma. High intensity hop aroma dominated by Sabro’s signature coconut and tropical fruit notes. HBC 596 contributes additional layers of citrus, melon, and a hint of herbal spice. The malt is neutral and supportive, offering light grainy sweetness, while fermentation remains clean with only a hint of fruity esters.

Taste. Initial impression is a wave of tropical fruit, coconut, and citrus zest. Hop bitterness is moderately high and firm but avoids harshness. A clean, soft malt profile provides a light bready base that stays in the background. The finish is dry to medium-dry with a lingering, resinous hop character and a smooth, clean alcohol presence in the aftertaste.
