Magic Road's Let's Make It Double is a vibrant Double IPA that showcases the synergistic effects of Citra and Trident hops. The aromatic profile is led by Citra's hallmark grapefruit and tropical mango notes, which are amplified by the complex berry and citrus oil character of the Trident blend. A lean, neutral malt base provides the necessary structure without introducing heavy sweetness, allowing the firm hop bitterness to remain clean and assertive. Despite its strength, the beer maintains high drinkability with a dry, resinous finish and a subtle, well-integrated warmth that underscores its modern, hop-forward identity.
Appearance. Pours a deep gold to light orange (SRM 7-9) with good clarity and a moderate-sized, persistent off-white head that leaves consistent lacing on the glass.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring prominent notes of passion fruit, lime, and melon from the Citra, alongside a complex fruit cocktail and berry-like character from the Trident. Malt is low and neutral, providing a grainy background to the intense hop profile.
Taste. Initial impression is a burst of tropical and citrus hop flavors. Moderate-high bitterness is firm but clean, lacking harshness. The malt character is soft and supportive with minimal caramel. The finish is medium-dry to dry, leading into a lingering aftertaste of resinous pine and citrus zest.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, slightly oily texture. Carbonation is medium-high, providing a lively mouthfeel. A light, pleasant alcohol warmth is present but well-restrained.
