This 2022 vintage of MadX Raspberry & Funk is a vibrant evolution of the Saison style, merging rustic farmhouse character with a bold berry infusion. Deeply aromatic, it leads with an explosion of fresh raspberries, underpinned by a complex layer of funk—earthy, leathery, and slightly tart notes typical of a matured farmhouse ale. The underlying malt profile provides a soft, grainy foundation that supports a dance of spicy black pepper phenols and subtle floral hops. Its effervescent nature and bone-dry finish accentuate the bright raspberry acidity, creating a refreshing, multi-layered experience that balances wild complexity with high drinkability.

Appearance. Deep pinkish-amber to light ruby (10-14 SRM including fruit hue); voluminous, pink-tinted white head with excellent persistence and intricate Belgian lacing; slightly hazy due to being unfiltered and fruited.

Aroma. High intensity; dominant fresh raspberry fruitiness blends with moderate spicy phenols (black pepper) and a distinct funky barnyard, earthy character. Low floral hop aroma and a subtle, grainy malt backbone provide support.

Taste. Bright, tart raspberry flavor leads into a dry, grainy malt center. Moderate bitterness is balanced by fruit acidity rather than heavy hop presence. Yeast-driven spice (peppery) and rustic funk (hay, light leather) emerge in the mid-palate. The finish is exceptionally dry and crisp with a lingering berry tartness.
